How does it identify products? +
As the operator, any time you're loading a new product (one you've never had before) you'll need to create that product in the operator's app. This entails taking a photo, and providing some basic details like product name & price, and that's all the machine needs to recognize the product from there on out. While operating, the smart cooler uses video recognition and advanced AI code to track what customers pull from the machine and charges them accordingly. But how accurate is it? +
Currently, we're operating at ~99% accuracy and getting better every day. (On the rare occassion that the machine doesn't identify a product correctly, you are notified via the operator's app and can easily adjust the order right there inside the app.)
Is the entire inside refrigerated? +
Yes, but you can place most items that don't require refrigeration in the cooler as well. Most snacks (chips, popcorn, candy, etc.) handles the cooler temperatures just fine, and in fact, it doubles the shelf life for most products.
What if someone puts a product back? +
If someone pulls a product and puts it back inside the cooler during their vending session, the AI software is "smart" enough to detect this and charge the customer correctly.
Can I customize the exterior? +
Yes, the exterior of the machine is 100% up to you (see the option in the variant selector above the 'ADD TO CART' button). If you choose to have your own graphics on the machine's exterior, you will be prompted to provide the digital files after your order is placed.
How do I get Paid? +
After you set up payment processing inside the app by providing your bank account details, you can request deposits of your earnings anytime you want!
How does the cooler connect to the payment processor? +
Every Genius Vend™ AI unit includes a built in SIM card that connects the machine to the payment processor and the operator's app, and this connection is also used for processing customer payments. The monthly payment processing fees (listed below) cover the cellular connection.
What payment methods does it take? +
Once you activate your machine with the operator's app you will be set to accept swiped card payments and tap payments with cards or smart phones. Our payment processing partner accepts Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, and Droid Pay — which covers at least 99% of what people will try to use.
What are the payment processing fees? +
Once you activate the payment processing on your machine to accept customer orders, the following fees will apply:
- Monthly fee of $40/month (per machine)
- Processing fees of 5 cents + 5.95% of revenue for each order
Do I pay royalties or other ongoing fees? +
Nope, the payment processing fees described in the previous FAQ are the only fees you will pay to operate your machine.
Why are the processing fees that high? +
Our payment processing partner's fees are actually very competitive (if not on the lower end) for the vending industry. Because the average order is so much smaller in a vending machine than it is in a "brick & mortar" business (like a restaurant or retail store) the payment processors in the vending space have rates that range from 5-10% of revenue with monthly fees of $30-100+ per machine/account.
Can I finance a machine? +
The financing within our checkout system is ported in from a 3rd party. You can see what payment plans are available to you by choosing ShopPay in checkout. Your credit isn't checked unless you proceed with a plan.
How hard is the install? +
We do have a 3rd party "final mile" service available to do the install, but it's honestly not really necessary. We send a set up PDF that walks you through the install steps and it only takes a few minutes.
The standard shipping service includes a scheduled delivery at the install location, and a lift gate to lower the unit to the ground. They also will wheel the pallet to the front entrance of the location.
From there, you can get the packaging removed, then the machines have locking wheels that allow you to easily roll the machine to wherever you want it set up. Once you have it where you want it, you can simply lock the casters so the machine won't move.
The actual configuration of the machine is a breeze with the free operator's app. You go through the simple wizard and in about 20 minutes you are all set up. (Getting your payment processing approved typically takes 1-3 business days before you can start accepting order.)
What if I need help? +
Your purchase includes lifetime support! The included operator's app gives you access to an operator support portal where you can get help with absolutely any question or issue that arises!
Does this AI cooler have a warranty? +
Yes, the machine inlcudes a manufacturer's warranty against defects for a period of 1 year from the purchase date!
What if the cameras are covered? +
@michaelbrumfield6197 This was a big concern of ours early on, but it's turned out to be a non-issue. People know they are under surveillance (sticker on front of machine that states it), and are extremely hesitant to try anything dishonest. Furthermore, with the distance between the two cameras, it'd take considerable effort to block both cameras while grabbing product. If someone did, this would certainly be considered stealing and you'd have surveillance footage to share with a police report. All of that said, there are thousands of AI vending machines out there using this platform and this has not been reported a single time to date, so it's not something to really worry much about.
What if my customer takes more than what's preauthorized? +
So as the operator, you can specify the preauthorized amount that's "held" on the card in order to open the machine. So if you have valuable stuff in your unit, you'd want to "pre-auth" a higher amount (i.e. $10 or even $20+). That way, if the "settled amount" is more that what was preauthorized, you can at least collect the higher amount you preauthorized up front.
It's worth noting thet prepaid cards and gift cards are not accepted by the machine for your security.
There is always a risk that someone will take more than what's preauthorized up front and you won't be able to capture that full amount, but this is extremely rare and not something to worry too much about. Also, if the preauthorized amount was higher, you should at least recoup the actual cost on the items pulled.
What if I dont need refrigeration? +
We are developing a non-refrigerated merchandising cabinet, but it won't be available until late this year. In the meantime, all of our "cooler" models have separate power switches for the refrigeration components, so you can leave the refrigeration off completely and still vend non-refrigerated product as intended.
What's the return policy? +
Yes, you can return one of our products if you decide it's not a good fit for your vending location. The original purchaser has 15 days from the elivery date to inform us they'd like to return their purchase (for full details click the 'Refund policy' in the footer of our checkout system).
Why do these look like Haha's products? +
We source our AI coolers and freezer from the same factory as Haha, so they will look the same. We also use the same POS and operator's app, so your experience will be very similar whether you buy from them or us. Our units have a different look & feel due to our exterior customization options, and in our humble opion out machines look a lot better!
